With the EvenKeel | Advanced Custom Orthotics system, practitioners have a tool in their hands that can produce an orthotic unlike anything currently on the market. At its core, its quite simple. There are 3 steps to the prescription of each individual orthotic device:

  1. We take a picture and measure the bottom of the foot on a computer. We mark important spots on the foot like the ball and the center of the heel. This configures the length and width of the device.
  2. Next, either a prescribing physician or a trained examiner performs a detailed exam. They check and measure the range of motion of the toes, foot and ankle (the biomechanics of the lower extremities) and record these findings in the computer. A unique algorithm extrapolates the data found in the biomechanical exam into a series of angles from the rearfoot to the forefoot and toe box of the device.
  3. Finally the prescribing doctor makes minor tweaks to the shape and configuration of the foot orthoses, including the height of the heel pad, the height of sidewalls, and the type of materials used.

EvenKeel Custom Orthotic Devices:

  • Are extremely effective in altering function
  • Permit wedging all along the bottom of foot
  • Provide total contact to the under surface of foot
  • Are extremely well-tolerated by patients
  • Adjustable sidewalls allow for increased stability and correction
  • Can be easily adjusted in-office

The EvenKeel Advanced Custom Orthotics system helps to ensure patient adherence and satisfaction because orthotics can be altered immediately, providing proper fit so that people are walking out of the clinic more comfortably than they came in. The orthotic is fit on site and if necessary, proper complimenting shoes are available. Custom orthotic therapy is akin to getting a cast for a problem. In fact, one of the best alternatives to really problematic foot injuries that can’t be healed with orthotic therapy is to completely immobilize the foot in a cast. For a common problem, like plantar fasciitis and heel pain cast immobilization is rarely needed, and usually custom foot orthoses and good shoes are sufficient to resolve the injury.

Materials

The EvenKeel system allows for a comprehensive set of semi-soft and semi-rigid materials from which practitioners can choose. Additionally, a selection of materials specially fabricated to address specific performance or injury requirements makes EvenKeel orthotics as well-suited for patients with vascular or neuropathic insufficiency as they are for athletes.

Advantages:

  • By not skimping on materials and creating full-length wedging, the prescription works through the entire stance phase
  • Semi-soft or semi-rigid top materials conform to the foot to provide total contact and support
  • Can help prevent ulcerations that occur from hot spots – making the orthotics ideal for patients with diabetes
  • Provides even force distribution for comfort
  • Unique tri-layer combinations allow for maximal comfort and function in the same device.
