One of our patients wears a size 13 sneaker that is fitted with custom orthotics. He loves this combination but could not foresee switching to other footwear this year even in the throes of our New England winter.

The problem here is that things can get sloppy with the slush and snow. Cold wet feet are about the worst downside of our New England winters. Sneakers wont cut it most winter days. He recently called to see if we could make a recommendation that might help him stay in his shoes and still enjoy being outdoors this season.

We have recommended an overshoe product for many patients in the past. One of the favorites of our patients is the N.E.O.S family of products. They make a variety of options that are geared for varying activity types. The Uptowner and Villager are great everyday winter overshoes.

If you need to wear a specific shoe for a medical reason, this type of product may be helpful in getting you through the winter. As usual, consult with your podiatrist or your doctor to see if these will work with your treatment plan.
